Be Anxious for Nothing

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

So long as we are on this side of eternity, things that have the tendency to make us get anxious will come. However, Paul has given us an instruction: we should not be anxious about anything. In other words, we should not allow anything to get us upset, worried or disturbed.

He goes on to say that instead of getting worried or disturbed, we should pray about the situation and at the same time be thankful to God for the answer to our requests. The result will be a dimension of peace that will flood our hearts beyond what people can understand.

This is like the peace Jesus had while He slept so deep in the midst of the storm that the disciples had to ask if He did not care that they perished (Mark 4:38). It is also the same peace the Hebrew boys had when Nebuchadnezzar threatened to throw them into the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:14-18).

This peace is beyond all human comprehension. It comes by making a decision not to be anxious, worried, upset or disturbed about anything, but rather to be prayerful and thankful, and when it is activated, it will guard our hearts and minds.

Beloved, you must make up your mind to follow God's instruction not to be anxious. This way, you can enjoy His great peace no matter the storm.
