Secure in the Father’s Provision

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen!
- Philippians 4:19-20 (NKJV)

The world has been hit by a health crisis in the last few years, with ripple effects impacting various sectors and institutions that people had long placed their trust and hopes in. All these challenges have revealed that as useful as these things are, nothing in this present world can truly provide us with a security that is crisis-proof. Every other ground is really shifting sand.

Peter once came to Jesus and basically said, “We left everything to follow you. What will we get back? Is our welfare going to be taken care of? I have a wife, I have children; if I were alone, I could find my way around. But with all these people what is going to happen to our future?” And Jesus said, “Relax, everyone that gives up anything will get back a 100-fold return. Although with persecution, but you will be rewarded, your security will be taken care of” (Matthew 19:27-30).

An assurance that we would be adequately taken care of is what people seek. That is why people look for jobs and better packages. What people are seeking is simply a sense that there is a brighter future for their children and for them professionally. People crave material provision, socio-emotional security, financial security, health security, etc.

God’s Word says in 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you will prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” God cares about your welfare, and He has made adequate provision available for you in Christ. We enjoy these benefits as we become aware of them, accept them as truth in our hearts and personally affirm with our speech that they belong to us in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, you need to make a choice to stand on God’s promises steadfastly and receive all that belong to you to the praise and glory of God.
