If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
- Colossians 3:1-2 (NKJV)

We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ in the heavenly places. We were also raised by God with Christ and seated with Him at God’s right hand in the heavenly places where the blessings are. God would have us focus on the things around us in our new location – the heavenly places in Christ Himself. Though you are on earth, your focus should be on the provisions which God made available to you in Christ. If you set your mind on things above, you will be so preoccupied with the blessings that the happenings and tantrums of the devil will have no meaning or effect on you.

Someone who finds himself in the desert will die of thirst if he chooses to focus on the expanse of sand and the heat of the sun above and neglect the well that is there with water to quench his thirst. The same applies to any believer who neglects or is unconscious of the advantages of his current spiritual location. Such a believer would be whipped again and again by life’s challenges.

Seeking the things on earth limits you because the laws operating in the world’s systems are antagonistic to the laws of the kingdom and the blessings of God. They will keep you distracted, discouraged and depressed because there is no provision of peace in the world’s system. Setting your mind, therefore, on the things above means choosing and keeping your mind on life when the world and the devil present death, choosing and keeping your mind on health when sickness attacks, choosing and keeping your mind on abundance when lack stares you in the face, choosing and keeping your mind on victory when defeat seems imminent!

Beloved, to live and enjoy this God kind of life and make a positive impact on those around you, you must constantly focus and get acquainted with the things in your current location – in Christ!
