October 17:2020

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
John 10:11-16 (NKJV)

The goodness of God as our Heavenly Father is foundational to our Christian faith. Understanding this nature of goodness is a prerequisite to truly walking with God and effectively serving Him in this dispensation. This nature of goodness is best illustrated by the current role of Jesus as our good shepherd.

God is good all the time; you will never catch God being or doing anything less than perfect goodness. He is not evil in nature and will never be bad in His actions towards us. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” – James 1:17

In the light of this reality, God’s faithfulness must always be viewed from the perspective of His goodness to us; In other words, He is faithful in being and doing good to us always.

“Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.” – Psalm 100:3-5

It is this assurance of the constancy of God’s character that gives our faith an unshakeable foundation to rest upon, and also makes it impossible for satanic accusations and condemnation to have any adverse effect on our minds.

Beloved, I pray for you today, that His goodness will overflow in your life and overshadow your pathway throughout this year, in Jesus name. Amen.
