October 19:2020

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV)

One of the primary responsibilities of a shepherd is to protect the sheep of the pasture. The shepherd protects the sheep from thieves and from all other kinds of danger. Our Lord Jesus as our good shepherd particularly protects us from the evil schemes of Satan, from the weapons of darkness and from the forces of untimely death.

When we submit ourselves to the leadership and guidance of His Holy Spirit, we will become free from all kinds of fear as we grow in the assurance of His shielding presence and in the revelation of His perfect protection over our lives. “…Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…”

Our enemies don’t stand a chance against the mighty force of the Holy Spirit; He is able to confound every demonic foe, paralyze every wicked agenda and prevent every destructive accident. Furthermore, He will displace the spirit of fear from our lives and grant us supernatural boldness to face all the dangers of this life.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."” – Romans 8:14-15

As God’s children we have a covenant right to His protection and so He expects us to be fearless in this life. We are to sit and dine confidently at the table of blessings that He has prepared for us even in the presence of our adversaries, knowing that they will not be able to harm us as long as we have put our trust in the Lord as our shepherd.

Beloved, do not be afraid of anything because the Lord is your shepherd. No harm shall befall you! No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper! This year you will feast at His table of blessings, and you will lack no good thing. Amen!
