January 13:2020

I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
Psalm 138:2

“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” – Revelation 21:5

‘My word is my bond’ is an idiomatic expression which is used to indicate that the speaker will always do what he or she has promised to do. If someone’s word is his bond, then you have no worries as to whether the person will keep his promise.

God, in His word, has given us assurances about His promises to us. Not only that, He has gone ahead to prove to us that we can trust in Him and rely on His promises to us. For example, He promised us a saviour and He delivered by sending His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and save us from satan’s grip. So many other fulfilled promises of God are in the Bible.

God’s word is His bond. God does not joke with His word and He has placed His word above His name, which means that we can take His word to the bank. He guards His word and He does not speak what He doesn’t mean. Every word out of God’s mouth is truth. How do we know we can trust Him? It is because His word says so in many scriptures.

God is immutable!  He does not change. “For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6). “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17). “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8)

God does not lie and He cannot lie! “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19)

God keeps His promises to us! “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). “And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken” (Genesis 21:1). What He said He will do for us, He will do.

Beloved, you can enjoy God’s promises only if you can believe Him and His word. He will never lie to you and will always fulfil what He has said concerning you as long as you trust Him. Stay expectant, never wavering and you will enjoy bountiful blessings in 2020.
