Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counsellors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."
Daniel 3:24-25 (NKJV)
In every believer’s life, there is that time when it appears like the heavens are silent and nothing seems to be working. This is usually a time closest to any major shift or elevation. At such times, you will find yourself praying more and even confessing more but you will equally find that you are fighting more battles to overcome the temptations of the devil being thrown at you.
This waiting time is usually the time the devil offers you the most alternatives and these are always in direct conflict with the written word of God. For instance, someone who has some financial needs and goes to God in prayer about it, will be firm in faith or have high expectations from the onset. But once the time draws closer for the need to be met, the devil will begin to offer suggestions on borrowing or begging, which totally contradict God's promise that we shall lend and not borrow.
This is the time when holding on to your confession of faith becomes a lifeline. You must take authority over the spirit of doubt and vocalize the promises of God until they come to pass. You must not create or accept any suggestions of alternatives when trusting God for a miracle, or such miracle manifestation will be undermined.
From our text today, we see a clear case of the testing of the faith of the three Hebrew boys who have not only believed in the living God but have also confessed Him as a mighty deliverer. The normal mind would expect that God would show up in style and destroy the king or his people while they were tying up the boys or perhaps get the king to change his mind about throwing them into the fire. But, no, He didn’t! At this point, many would have worked out their alternatives but these boys held on to their confession of the delivering power of God.
You see, God always likes to show off and show up big in the lives of those who stand on His word and refuse to back down. God expects you to uphold what you have believed about Him and not cast away your confidence. Sometimes, it will appear as though God is silent on you, but He never is. He is working your solutions out while you wait. When it appears, it will bring more glory to God and may lead to the salvation of souls.
Beloved, God wants you to believe Him with all your heart and as you walk with Him, know that silence is not the absence of activity but a place of growth.
