You Have What It Takes

April 17:2019

For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.” If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
Hebrews 12:6-8‬ (NKJV‬‬‬‬)

Growing up in all things comes with a lot of discomforts and sometimes pain. As a child of God, when you face such situations, the temptation to blame God or feel abandoned is very strong. As a guide, however, it is good for you to settle this truth in your heart that God doesn't bring us temptation or send evil our way. The devil does. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God;” for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone (James 1:13).

God expects you to go through such temptations or trials when they come and emerge better because He (God) has His seed of greatness in you and has graced you to go through it. Picturing it is like the devil throwing a child of God, who thinks he can't swim, into a pool and that child expects God to jump in immediately and bring him/her out! God knows the He has equipped that child to swim and so, He will allow him to slap about, kick and try floating until he gets a hang of it.

God is not afraid of that child dying because He (God) has given him what it takes to come out of it. God knows that there are more rivers ahead and the skills learnt each time would come in handy; therefore, He won't interfere with the process, but once in a while, He provides a boost to that child so he/she doesn't drown. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13).

Child of God, to experience the unprecedented is also to brace up for some learning that comes from the Holy Spirit. Refuse to back down when you’re faced with options to quit. You have what it takes to succeed!
