POWER IN OUR WORDS

March 16:2019

A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:20-21 (NKJV)

`

Children have a chant that goes like this “Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never harm me”. However, as adults, we quickly realize that words are more powerful than sticks and stones, and as the Bible says that the tongue sets on fire the course of nature and is set on fire by hell. (James 3:6b).

Words build up and pull down; they direct actions and cause wars or ceasefires! In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth with His words and we are still here on this earth today!

Our human mouth is the organ we speak through, and we care for it with mouth wash. It is the same way we must care for it spiritually.

Our words, once they come out cannot be taken back. We must, therefore, be very careful and be mindful of what we say to others daily. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide and lead you to speak only His mind, being mindful that once the words are out your mouth they cannot be taken back. You can repent of what you said, but it remains spoken.

Beloved, ensure that the opening of your mouth is only for edification and lifting up. This is a blessing to you and all those that hear you. Your words, like God’s Words, have creative power, so create only what you really want to see.

Prayer & Confession of Faith

My words have power; therefore, I will use my mouth to speak only edifying words – I will build others up and not pull them down with my words. Amen!
