January 13:2019

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
2 Timothy 4:1-2 (NKJV)

Through sin, man was separated from God, necessitating that Jesus came to earth, taking on the form of man and taking upon Himself the sins of the world. Jesus began His ministry with one-on-one evangelism. He called forth His disciples one by one. Just as it was millenniums ago, even today, evangelism is essential in your walk with God.

Evangelism is a ministry of reconciliation – bringing back man to God, in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and as sons of God through Christ Jesus! Jesus came to earth focussed on this divine mandate. Lives of men and women were at stake! People were dying and languishing under burdens that they could be free from! People needed love, healing and peace. They needed the Saviour!

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:36-38).

Jesus maintained His focus even while growing up in His human form, studying the word and preparing for the appointed time to launch out. When He was ready and had been baptised by John the Baptist, the following happened: the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:16-17).

Likewise, He has commanded us to ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). This is pleasing to God. It gives Him great pleasure and fulfils the commandment that we love one another. He is pleased when we evangelise and reap souls for His Kingdom.

Beloved, be deliberate, intentional and passionate about evangelism. Do the work of soul-winning and fulfil your ministry. God bless you, as you do!
