Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Our words are vital. We cannot rise higher than the words we speak and we cannot speak differently from our most prevalent thoughts. So to control our words, we must learn to control our thoughts, and not let our thoughts control us. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can control our thoughts and not be misled by them. We must take charge and lead our thoughts in Christ.

God, through Moses, sent twelve spies from the children of Israel to survey the land He had given them. The mission was clear. They were to assess their new inheritance and bring back a report. Whether or not the Israelites would get the land was not the question; God had already given them the land as an inheritance. All they were required to do was take possession. Yet, none of that generation, with the exception of Joshua and Caleb, took possession! Why?

The ones that did not take possession believed they could not, and so did not. Joshua and Caleb entered because they believed they could. For both parties, what determined the outcome for them were their thought processes and their words which were in line with what they were thinking. The other spies sent out on that mission did not think right and this affected their words and, consequently, they lost their inheritance.

Beloved, it wasn’t the giants that defeated them, but their negative perception of themselves built by wrong thoughts. Make it a habit to confess positively about yourself. Learn to see things the way God sees them.
