October 12:2018

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)

Jesus encouraged this kind of dependence when He said, I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing (John 15:5). He wasn’t exaggerating; this was simply a statement of fact - without Him, we can do nothing.

Today, though Jesus isn't here physically, He told us that He would send us another Helper - an exact replica of Himself to represent Him. This means that depending on Jesus is depending on His Spirit. This also means that without the Holy Spirit, you cannot be a minister of reconciliation, you cannot be an effective Christian without him, and you cannot be effective in your career or business without His help.

For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose (Philippians 2:13). Even the willingness and the ability to be effective come from Him. This simply means as Christians, we should be completely dependent on His ability. He alone supplies the power to become whatever He wants us to be. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12).

Beloved, allow the Holy Spirit to be your helper. Depend on Him fully and you will become all that God has planned for you to be.

Prayer & Confession of Faith

I have received the power and ability to become all that God has called me to be because I have learnt to lean on His ability, guidance and counsel. The Holy Spirit is working in me, both to will and to do of God's good pleasure. Amen!
