There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18 (NKJV)

It is astonishing to hear the range of things that make people afraid these days, from physical, to social, spiritual and the fear of the unknown. Unfortunately, some Christians without the right knowledge are still under the influence of fear and take decisions based on fear rather than the leading of the Spirit. The devil uses fear as an open door to oppress, afflict and torment people. This is an aberration that should not be allowed in the body of Christ. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). It is only those that are yet to mature in love that can be distracted by fear. But for a child of God who understands the love of God, there can be no iota of fear.

The first step is a deep conviction beyond any doubt that God loves you. Not because of what you have done or did not do, but because of who He is (God is love). But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Secondly, you now have the nature of love because of the new birth, and the love of God is resident in your heart - As He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Such intimate knowledge of our love-nature and the practice of our love-walk change everything. To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19).

Love magnifies God’s presence; His fullness leaves no room for fear. His presence will never leave us, neither will he forsake us. So, we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me (Hebrews 13:6). As you walk in love, you are bold and bigger than anything else there is and fear has no place. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).

Beloved, the next time fear attempts to distract you, wake up to the consciousness of the love of God. It is similar to your righteousness in Christ.
