Your Company Matters

May 22:2019

And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them… And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness
Acts 4:23, 31

Every company is defined by a brand name based on certain processes, practices or specific products from the processes. Similarly, companionship which is of the same root word as 'company', describes associations and groups that a person can be frequently identified with.

The early disciples of Jesus had an encounter with the Jewish religious leaders. They arrested them and warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus. Afterwards, they went back to their company or companions. Running as an individual with a vision is good, but there is only so much that can be achieved without a company or the right companion. God-given visions are always beyond what can be achieved by individual efforts: “And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him” (Genesis 2:18). A common vision or goal is the fundamental reason for companionship.

Several reasons abound as to why the right company is necessary: individual and cooperate effectiveness bring greater results: “Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you” (Leviticus 26:8). We are strengthened by our company and receive encouragement to carry through: “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up’” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

You must not allow the devil to deceive you. This is not the time to run without company. Consistency with a local church, service teams, cell groups are examples of good companionship that will enable you to succeed as a believer. Understanding and running with the vision of your local assembly will empower you to succeed as an individual. It is no longer a question of relationships but being careful to make the right choice, as evil companionship will corrupt an individual’s vision.

Beloved, we have been called by God into a company that is designed with the resources for positive impact and success. It is time to find your place and run with the vision.
