For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Romans 8:14 (NKJV)

A question one must ask oneself is, what or who is leading me? You see, different people are led by different things. Some people are led by tradition, some by personal ambition, some are led by desires or even by greed, while some are led by money or even wrong motives. Yet, the Bible admonishes all to be led by the Holy Spirit.

We are not to be led by prophecies, by dreams or by external influences; rather, we are to be led by the Holy Spirit. Our ability to submit to the leading of God’s Spirit is what qualifies us to be called sons. Isaiah prophesying about Jesus made a clear distinction between a child and a son. For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given… (Isaiah 9:6).

Being led by the Holy Spirit is not farfetched because he resides in every child of God and is always guiding the believer. The Holy Spirit is also a master communicator, so He can reach us no matter our level of education; all that is required for us to be led successfully is to listen for His voice (Isaiah 30:21).

Jesus himself set an example for us to follow when He remained totally yielded to the Holy Spirit during His earthly work. And if Jesus needed the Holy Spirit’s help to effectively carry out His ministry, so do we. The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel…He has sent Me… (Luke 4:18).

Why is important to be led by the Holy Spirit? Jesus said He will guide us into all truth; God reveals all things to us through His Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor and Advocate. This means for you to have a successful, effective or victorious Christian life you need to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Beloved, submit yourself to the leading of the Holy Spirit; He is here to help and guide you in your walk and work. He will make you successful!

Prayer & Confession of Faith

I am led by the Spirit of God in all I do. I don’t lean on my ability, talents, intellect or experience. I lean on the Spirit and stay completely yielded to Him in all things. Amen!
