And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
Exodus 14:15-16 (NKJV)

The excitement that the children of Israel experienced as they stepped out of Egyptian bondage was short-lived, as they were now hemmed in by the Red Sea on one side and the formidable army of blood-thirsty soldiers on the other. God interrupted Moses' pep talk and asked him to simply lift up his rod and stretch out his hand over the Red Sea.

Your ‘rod’ represents the areas of your life that have been specially graced and anointed by God to give you an edge in life. This could be a talent, a skill, or a special ability from God. It could even be some useful knowledge that God has helped you acquire or a favourable connection with someone that God has placed in your life. The 'Red sea' represents any obstacle or challenge that threatens to prevent your advancement.

Moses had tried to put the responsibility on God and God immediately shifted it back to him, going as far as telling him to DIVIDE the Red Sea. The reality is that if Moses had not lifted up his rod in obedience, they would have all drowned that day. Making meaningful advancements in this life is not entirely up to God; God will do His part only when we do our part by taking charge of the situations.

Beloved, as you begin to lift up your ‘rod’, God will begin to exalt you in the eyes of the enemy and you will make meaningful advancements this year. Amen!

Prayer & Confession of Faith

Thank You Lord for making a great and wide way for me. I will use my rod to part every ‘Red Sea’ in my life as I advance to my next level. Amen!
