September 06:2018

Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
Luke 5:3-7 (NKJV)

Most times, God’s instructions may not sound reasonable to us, especially when we consider ourselves as ‘experts’ in our various fields of endeavours. At such times, we may think that God has ‘missed it’.

Peter had been a fisherman all his life and he knew almost everything about fishing. He, the expert, had gone fishing at night and did not catch anything. He certainly knew when to cast his net and get a good catch, which was not in the morning.

Perhaps you are a plumber, doctor, banker, etc. and you know ‘everything’ about your profession. But here comes someone who not a member of that profession and he decides to give you instructions or suggestions that do not seem to rhyme with all you know. What would you do?

Ordinarily, the first impulse is to resist. What do they know? Who gave them the information? But, thankfully, Peter recognised the voice of the Master and said: nevertheless at Your word…

Jesus, our Master, is the expert in all things! His words always bring breakthroughs and abundance. When we follow His leading, great things happen for us. His instruction may seem meaningless or even daunting to us; however, if we can just trust Him, will be in for a net-breaking catch!

Beloved, it is all about His word. God will always give you a word or an instruction that will get you from the shallow waters into the deep. When He speaks, listen to Him, trust Him, and then obey Him by launching out and letting down your net. Your harvest will surely come. Amen!
