The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23:1-4 (NKJV)

A shepherd is a person who tends, leads, feeds or guards a flock or herd. The shepherd's primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of the flock. The shepherd usually leads to places where the flock will get a sufficient and healthy supply for grazing. He keeps a watchful eye over them. He knows when they have had enough food and he leads them to drink water.

A good shepherd is one with the sheep; he protects them from predators and will not rest when one is taken away until he gets it back. He will do anything for his sheep, including giving up his life. A good shepherd cares! He knows the name of his sheep and calls them by name; he knows their needs all the time and provides them.

Jesus said, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep (John 10:11). Believe Him today.

Beloved, Jesus is our good shepherd. He cares for us lovingly and watchfully and will never let us lack or lead us astray. He has given His life for you, so open your heart today and receive all the good things He has in store for you.
