THE SECRET PLACE

July 08:2018

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night.
Psalm 91:1-5 (NKJV)

`

Children are fond of playing hide and seek games; they hide from someone who has the responsibility of searching for and discovering their ‘secret hiding place’.

For children, this is light-hearted fun. If a child is not ‘found out’ on time, the child may actually fall asleep while in hiding, or just come out of hiding if the hide-out was cleverly thought out and there was no way the child could be found! That child would literarily get bored!

In real-life situations, when a natural disaster like a flood or hurricane unleashes its terror on a community, the authorities and volunteers swiftly move into action to rescue and move people into safe havens away from the disaster. Such a place is literarily secret to the reach of the disaster. It is a place of refuge and fortress, safe from damage.

Like the scenario of the child’s hide and seek game, we need a cleverly thought out place for our refuge. A place where the devil and his monitoring agents can never find us! Those who seek evil will grope in perpetual darkness and get perplexed in their inability to track and hunt us down. That place is the secret place of the Most High God.

The place, though secret to all, is where the Almighty shields you from the storms of life and the tricks of the enemy. You may ask, “Where is that secret place?” Access to this secret place of the Most High is conditional. It is based on a private relationship and a walk with Jesus Christ. In the realm of the spirit, in this place, He provides protection, care and nourishment. Peace and safety are available to the believer.

Beloved, if you commit to dwelling in God’s presence, daily and fervently meditating upon His word, you can never be taken out by the storms of life; no devil can snatch you from God’s presence.

Prayer & Confession of Faith

Dear Lord Almighty, in these evil times, I seek Your cover and Your manifest presence. I yearn for the Holy Spirit to brood over me, such that even when storms rage all around, I will hear You say, “Peace be Still!” Amen!
