It Is Well With My Soul

June 18:2018

And the child grew. Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers. And he said to his father, “My head, my head!” So he said to a servant, “Carry him to his mother.” When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out. Then she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back”. . . So it was, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, the Shunammite woman! Please run now to meet her, and say to her, 'Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?' And she answered, “It is well.”
2 Kings 4:18-22, 25-26 (NKJV)

The death of a child is not something anyone wants to experience. After years of childlessness and the fruit of the womb eventually granted, the horror and pain of the death of that child cannot be imagined. Many people may find it difficult to recover from that painful experience. Many choose to lose their testimony. The Shunammite woman faced such a trying moment but the confession of her lips showed the condition of her heart. It is not easy to say it is well when harsh conditions stare us in the eye! Many people may resort to blaming the government, parents, employers, neighbours, village people or even themselves.

The storms will come, but what do we say or do when they appear? Do we fold our hands or curl up with the problems or do we look up to our Father and say “It is well because I know You are with me in this?” The confession of our lips is crucial in everything we go through.

Beloved, God will never allow you to experience storms alone so long as you trust Him. He never abandons His own. Speak life always. Say 'It is well with my soul!’

Prayer & Confession of Faith

It is well with me and all that concerns me. Great and mighty battles You have fought for me even when I was not aware of what was going on behind the scenes! It is well with my soul. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Amen!
